Sent letters, took phone calls, sent faxes.

One of the collection agencies that has my medical debt is driving me insane! I have sent them copies of my bankruptcy letter stating when the 341, I have faxed them copies of it, I have told them over the phone. Everytime I just keep hearing "We don't have that information on file ..." How many times do I have to do this!! Is there a better way to handle it? If I ignore them will I get in trouble and not have the debt released?

    Thanks

herekitty - I had the same thing happen with a medical issue as well. I too told them over and over about the BK, file date, 341, etc., but they continued to call me and send us threatening letters. Finally they turned it over to a collection agency and I went into my sick of this stuff mode. I spoke with the supervisor and told her what had transpired. She said she was sorry about what i had been subjected to and said the case was closed. Havent heard from them since. I think with so many people not paying their medical bills they are coming after those of us who "might" be able to. They should know medical bills are astronomical no matter what your situation is and people simply cannot pay them even with insurance paying a portion. I suggest just biding your time and when the collection agency calls or writes tell them. FYI the collection agency I dealt with could not believe the company was still pursuing payment.

Some will harrass you till after discharge.....most know after that its against the law.....
If you are discharged, send them a certified letter (they have to sign for it) with a copy of your discharge papers. Also remind them that they are breaking the law by demanding payment!!
If it doesn't stop, then contact the Attorney General's office in your state. I'm sure he'd be glad to "jerk" their liscense for harrassment or breaking BK laws.

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

Thanks guys. I've decided that one final time I will send them the BK notice certified mail. After that, it's going in the hands of the law. Just that little pester in the day, you know?

In better news, I just got notice that the trustee ruled my case as a no asset!

herekitty - sounds like a plan and congrats on the "no asset" case.
