UCB is a bunch of scum bags. They left me a message about one of my Citi accounts about a year ago. I returned their call and let them know that I couldn't pay and would be filing BK. They then proceeded to call my mother, sister, sister in law, mother in law, and 3 neighbors in an effort to "Locate" me. They knew perfectly well where I was and what my numbers were. They were just trying to humiliate me into paying. I should have sued them... I'm still PO'd about it to this day.
I sent them a letter telling them not to contact anyone other than my wife and that we had no clue what the debt was. I haven't received anything in writing yet.
Take $10 billion from the government and then sue me...nice
yeah, i had them too for a citi account. funny thing, yes, their calls come thru with a 3 digit called ID. i always wondered how they did that. I sent them a DV and they went away. Account is with an attorney now
To my knowledge they are a CA. I sent them a DV and a nice threatining letter. They never contacted me after that. My Citi accounts ended up with an attorney as well shortly after.
Seems that some of the less reputable CAs use caller id spoofing, with numbers like 000-000-0000 or 999-999-9999, or the 3 diget numbers that you speak of.
When you get down to the brass tacks of it, anyone that calls from a blocked, anonymous, or spoofed number are not reputable enough to speak to. If they are hiding, why can't the consumer?

how much did you owe them? How long did they have it before it went to any attorney?
I have about 7 citicards, various amounts owed. 3 are with a local Cal attorney after being with a CA, expect to be sued anytime now. last paid feb 09.
