Verizon Wireless started charging bankruptcy charges on bill...

My wife has been discharged from her Chapter 7 BK about 6 months now. On her December bill from Verizon Wireless she noticed that they began charging her a bankruptcy fee. The fee totaled about $150.00 (this amount was comprised up of $250.00 in fee, then a bankruptcy charge credit for about $100.00). There are a total of three phones on the account at the time of filing, but she fell way behind on making payments on one of the phones so our attorney said to list it in the BK filing, which we did. As soon as she found these charges she went back to our records to make sure that these charges did not appear sooner, which they haven't. Once we found out we contated our attorney and had a letter sent to them. This has been about a month and the charges are still on the bill. When we contact Verizon everyone claims that they will push her matter to the top of the list and promises a return call the following day. We;ll we have yet to hear back from them. Has anyone else experienced any of these issues with Verizon.

    Thanks

I haven't heard of this sort of problem from Verzion particularily. But this isn't uncommon behavior from a creditor that has been listed in one's BK petition. The best thing you can do at this stage is to start creating a paper trail on them. Be certain that every letter that is mailed to them is succint and specific regarding the actions you're instructing them to take. Most importantly have patience. If after a few months, they still haven't cooperated with your letters, then just report them to the FTC or sue them if necessary.

    Good Luck!
