    Bank of America Calling...Calling...Calling

I have sent Bank of America one certified letter, two regular mail letters and multiple emails demanding that they quit calling us at work. It's particularly sensitive for my husband because his business shares a number with my FIL's residence. So...keeping the whole BK thing quiet was blown when FIL answered a call from Bank of America. Which, I believe is yet another violation when they discussed our financial issues with an uninvolved third party.

I can handle the calls at home, we have Caller ID (the best invention EVER!), but absolutely no calls at work.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what else I can do? The other CCs have been very good about their calls, but BoA is truly a PITA!

Because I can't take off work for another five weeks, we won't be filing until mid-May.

Bank of america just called my mother in law this morning. Oh, and I already filed. They even told her it was my last chance. She told me that she really did not want me to know, but they have been calling her daily. Now, I am scared that they are calling other people I know. I asked my mil what the caller id said and she told me it said "unknown".

Oh, and BOA left their phone number with her and the guy's name. It was Raphael.

You probably left those numbers with BOA as emergency contacts. When did you file BK? That should stop them cold when they get notified. My phone has received some much needed rest since I filed.

ps...BofA was calling me dailey as well. The last time they called, I gave them my case no. Haven't heard anything from them since.

BOA just called me again a few minutes ago. They said it was getting ready to get charged off. Don't know what that means. I just gave them my case # and that was the end of it (i think).

Once you request that they not call you at work, that is supposed to stop those calls. One gal did tell me they were supposed to get it in writing but that she would take the work number off. They never did call again. And once I tell them I've filed they ask for the Atty's name and number and again that's the end of them. Tell them to follow the rules!!

Charge off means they are giving up, however they will forward it or sell it to a collection agency. You think BOA is annoying. Anyhow since you filed it should stop, Are you sure you listed BOA on your petition?

BofA called me a lot at first too. Also, when I gave them the file # they stopped but not until then. Calling you at work is outrageous. They are not supposed to do that regardless. They are telling you it would be charged off to manipulate you into paying. Charging the debt off is worse than BK because at least with BK you have made a conscious decision to do something; charging off means virtually they have given up on trying to collect the debt. Once you have filed and your BK is discharged you will need to do a lot of work on checking your credit reports because companies like BofA tend to report as charged off instead of included in BK which it should say.

My big problem is that we won't be filing until mid-May, so I have no case number to give.

Believe it or not they called me at work today AGAIN. I didn't even give her the chance to get out her opening sentence. I unleashed that I had sent three letters, several emails and told multiple reps not to call me or my husband at work. I swear I ranted for a good two minutes. Then she said "Have a good day" and hung up. I had to chuckle...it felt good. Now if another one calls tomorrow I just may go through the phone and wring someone's neck.

I think I would flip burgers if I had to rather than be one of those callers. What a crappy job.

                    My 2 cents worth....

Next time BoA calls you, whether at work or at home, tell them to hold on a minute, lay the phone down and go about your business...Do this everytime they call you. You could lay the phone down and shoot an email to them explaining that you have put them on hold while you are firing the email to them. May not stop them, but at least you will feel better over it!

Check your search engine to see what the rules and regs are for your area as to creditors harrassing you. There are laws against this and if you are armed with knowledge, they will back off.

                    Good Luck!!

                      [QUOTE=wenderful]OMFG! BOA was the worst,

I hate BOA. They are showing on my CR right now that my debt was "charged off " and "bad debt" This, and they are still getting their money. Can't wait until I have time to get my report cleaned up.

I have 3 credit cards now reporting CO on my credit file, then a note, included in chaper 7, 11, 12 or 13 bankruptcy. I figured that was a good sign, means they charged off and won't be coming after me? Bank of America is not one that has me charged off yet.

lilgoose...that is so funny. I have heard of people doing that and in fact my brother turned on the vaccum cleaner and it going when he laid the phone down. He wasnt a deadbeat - it was a company he jointly owned that went under. He was very upfront with the creditors but that didnt seem to matter. That was a long time ago too. I do like the idea too of saying employees are allowed to receive phone calls...

I need some information. I spoke with BOA 2 days ago and gave them my atty's name/told them I had filed. Today, I got a letter in the mail that said BOA had written off as bad debt and my credit would be severely affected (big suprise!). Anyway, at the bottom of the letter, it said to contact them immediately. Now I am worried this loan has gone to collections and I owe them. Do I need to contact them regarding BK?????
