Can I garage sale personal belongings after filing?

I'm in Maine, and the exemption is $200 per each item (household furnishings, etc). If I file chapter 7, can I gargage sale items under this threshold and keep the money for an out of state move during the bk period?

It's best to wait until after the trustee's abandoned any interest in them, in case they want to send someone to take a look at the items and see if they agree with your valuation.

I wouldn't. We considered participating in an area yard sale in October, but did not because we were going to be filing in December. I did not want the appearance of anything improper then, and certainly don't want it now.

You never know who might show up at a yard sale.
