I think you are right and I now plan to go there every so often and check up on it - It will get really embarrasing when there is a foreclosure notice on the door!!! The bank is taking FOREVER!!!! They have not even started the foreclosure!!! And in CA it takes 4 months! We moved out last DEC 2007. (couldnt pay the mortgage from JULY 2007.

you said "remember technically right now that house is in your name and your responsible for it."

thats another thing - we cannot afford insurance on the home anymore - but I did get a letter from our mortgage company that they put their own "forced" insurance" on it since I didn't have any..... But their insurance only covers the property, not any personal liability (i.e, if someone trips and breaks a leg) - I guess they must protect their assets??
I wonder if they could or will try and bill me for it? We did put our house in our BK7 (not really sure what it means to put a house in with a BK7?? in CA they still have to go through the foreclosure process)

did you have to go back to your house? Did it go through the foreclosure process?

You may have prevented a fire hazard for those people who live by your home, and that should give you peace of mind. You will find that taking care of the property, even though it won't be yours forever will make you healthier and happier!!!

I think the city won't do a thing to you now, just keep up the good work, they can't fine you for a job well done. Just stop by once in awhile and make sure everything looks good, remember technically right now that house is in your name and your responsible for it.

Good job!! As hard as it was to go back, and I do know how that feels, it will all be over soon enough. Just hold you head up, you did a good thing!

      Boy, I'll say...and it's only mid-July.

Wonder if I will get a warning or something from the city?
I never heard from the city --- I did take before and after pics though just in case....
Photos are good. If you haven't heard from them already, I'd doubt that you will. I'm sure it varied everywhere, but where I live they give homeowners a reasonable amount of time for code compliance.[/QUOTE]

I felt really bad about the house and how I did not keep it up for the last 6 months and was extremely embarrassed to go back into the niehgborhood as it's pretty obvious that I am losing the house....I guess the whole thing has been an embarrasment and I didnt want to deal with the house....
It happens, and for a lot of different reasons. You did the right thing in the end. I had 3 immediate family members die within a 2 month period, and a grandchild who needed emergency surgery this past winter. Needless to say, lawn care was the last thing on my mind.

Luckily grass and weeds don't grow too fast in the winter, but still...when I came out of it and saw how bad it had gotten (and with me living in the house), I was surprised none of my neighbors complained.
