Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this.
I am five months late on my mortgage payment with Chase. Fourteen days ago I was served with the lis pendens papers. Legally you have 20 days to respond.
My lawyer is helping me prepare a short sale and we are in the process of responding to the lis pendens.
Well, today I went back to the property and noticed that someone (Chase Home Finance????) had cut off my lock on the gate, removed it, and added their own lock. I was literally locked out of my own back yard.
My neighborhood locksmith quickly solved that problem, we just removed the mystery lock altogether. Then I called the police and had them check the house inside and out. The house locks have not been changed, everything is otherwise ok --- Except for this strange lock that was placed on my back gate.
I called Chase and they kind of gave me the runaround. They said they know nothing of it, but they added that it's possible that one of their property inspectors came out and made a mistake by locking the gate.
Has anyone else heard of something like this happening? It seems to me we are awfully early in the foreclosure process for them to come and start locking down the property.
I should also add here that I have a history of trespassers in the back yard. Perhaps it was a neighborhood kid who played a prank?
