Note on door - is this normal?

We are two months behind in our mortgage payment now. We have talked to them - twice, and told them loss of job, can't pay right now, etc. We have received one item of mail from them indicating we now owe both payments and late fees.

My son brought in a note that was taped to my front door. I was clearly at home - but no one ever rang the doorbell. Piece of paper with my husband's name handwritten on the front. Inside said "URGENT! Please contact us immediately" and handwritten - mortgage company and a phone number - nothing indicating Chase Mortgage (although it must be).

Just thought it was odd. We are considering trying for a modification next month, although we haven't indicated this to them yet. Just found "anonymous" note a little odd.

    Notes...

More than likely a scam artist looking for a quick buck to help "rescue" your house. Mortgage companies and their agents don't leave handwritten notes. Stuff usually comes USPS only. I found during my foreclosure all kinds of lowlifes coming out of the woodwork wanting to "help"...For a large fee, of course..

BINGO!! Just googled the phone number and nothing came up -- except for a "Creative Real Estate Investing" forum. Read just a few of them but that's exactly the type of thing it is. Really -- how do they have our address already? Didn't figure we were that far into this already.

Well lovely - just went back on that website just out of curiosity to see if I could figure out who the "investor" was. After just a few clicks, my virus software shut it down. Yeh, that's the kind of people I would want to be doing business with!!

LOLOL. Being a computer specialist, I can appreciate that website. Those like it made me some bucks. (few, but some). You did good. Scams are now in their heights due to the economy and those becoming desperate.

Best to be cool, and collected, and investigate as so many go "off the wall" and panic.

          You did good. 'Hub

Great job..They get your address and personal information by combing public records for NODS, BK's etc..Anything legit about your house will come by mail or sometimes Fed-Ex. And you will get like 200 copies of everything..
