Discharge and renting a home question

Hello Friends!

My BK will be discharged on Aug. 17th and my house is going up for auction on the 8th of Aug. I'm not sure when to start putting in applications for an apartment or house to rent. I live in Virginia and I'm not sure how fast this process will take but have heard that it's pretty fast. Should I talk to potential landlords about my situation before going in and filling out an application?
I was told that I must have the discharge before I can apply for a rental property by others. But I want to make sure that I have all my "eggs in a row" before the discharge is complete because of the possible quick notice to leave my current home.

Hi---mzbunny---may I ask where you are in Virginia?

I'd say that with this timeline---you should be starting to put
applications together right now---especially since you know the
auction date---and you'll probably be contacted shortly thereaf-
ter by a realtor representing your bank---assuming the bank buys
the property---and you're going to be close on timing---which I'd
explain to said realtor---so that you could possibly work something
out---and I can tell you that Virginia does move fast in these matters.

be able to get something reasonably priced---but do watch
your timeline---since the auction date for your house is coming
fast---and would a deposit help to secure place before discharge?

Oh that's true! I was planning on offering more of a deposit if needed. Also a family memeber has offered to co-sign if needed. Thanks again!

Start looking now mzbunny26. It doesn't matter what state you're in, it's time to go, girl! Be prepared with at least 6 months rent for your deposit. If you can't get into apartments under management companies, try individual homeowners and make sure that they're not foreclosing as well. How ironic, huh? But you want to make sure. Be very upfront and tell them that you really don't want your credit report pulled because that will lower your score even more than it is now with the bankruptcy. Good luck with the hunting.
