I'm not familiar with Michigan law, but on your notice of default you should be given a day when your house will be auctioned. Then you have a specific amount of days to vacate before a sheriff will come. Sometimes auctions will be postponed. Ours was at least three times, but we had already moved out.

FWIW, finding a rental after a foreclosure isn't too difficult, just be prepared to pay an extra amount. Another person I know had a foreclosure and same thing. Just first, last and extra deposit. We even managed to get a home through a rental company.

Adviceplease, I'm not 100% sure if I'm even answering your question because I'm learning as I go along. I'm also from Mich and from what I understand you get 6 months after the sale because Mich is a redemption state. If it on acreage you get longer.

Hnhlvr, glad you found a rental. Was there many to choose from? Where I live in Western Mich they are few and far between and very expensive.
