I have been told by a friend who filed for Bankruptcy 3 years ago that if my husband and I are discharged we need to be careful on things we purchase for up to 6 months past our discharge date -- is this true? I know that they look at any transfers, etc 6 months prior to your filing, but they pay attention to 6 months after too??

No, it's not true. The only issue after discharge is if someone dies and leaves you money. If you get any inheritance within 180 days of filing BK, that must be reported. But once you have your discharge, you are FREE to do whatever you want financially.
