    I am sooooooooo nervous!

I have been looking for a job for the past 5 months as I am miserable at my current one. I finally have one that looks promising, I have gone on 3 interviews. The hiring manager keeps calling/emailing to keep me "posted" as he is traveling this week. He said he needs to check on the status with HR and then he will call me the end of this week. Of course I have the normal nervousness associated with waiting to hear but now I am double nervous to the point I feel ill because we filed bankruptcy the end of last month (the 27th). I am wondering how fast does it show up on my report. I had to sign paperwork saying that I entitled them to check my consumer report and background check if necessary. Will this blow my chances of landing a great job?

It is possilbe that BK will keep you out of a better job. It depends on the company, the job level, and what field your employment is in.
For example if it is financial a current BK is like a hug from the God Father.
    Best of luck,

We filed on 9/29/06. By the middle of November, the BK was showing on my credit report. However, I just started a new job and nothing was ever mentioned. I think it's really only a problem if you're in a financial type of job, as emoney said.

As others have said, there are some jobs where BK would be a deal breaker. If you need to be Bonded, or you're in Finance, or Security, BK might cause an employer to overlook you as a candidate. If they've interviewed you 3 times, and the hiring manager is keeping you updated, it sounds like they are seriously interested.

Good Luck, Momto4!! Here's hoping everything goes smoothly and you get the job offer.

Nothing in finance or security, I guess I should be happy about that right about now, huh? I am a project coordinator, nothing exciting.
