Wife has better Credit than Me?

How can my wife have better credit than me? Been married for 17 years, her name is on everything we own. She is listed in the Ch 13 BK. We still have over 2 years to go in it.

She gets all kinds of Credit Card offers. About 2 months ago I finally just tried one for the fun of it. She got approved with a $39 annual fee from Orchard Bank for $3,000. I figured that's cool, we use it and pay off completely immediately. Thinking it might help the Credit Reports.

So she continues to get all kinds of offers from Real banks. I just tried another one tonight, and what do you know, she gets approved again. At least the computer came back and told me she did...for $6,000. This time I got a card in my name also.

It's funny, they ask how much she makes, about $10k. Then they ask if there is any other household income, and I say yes, $92k. They dont ask where it comes from.

Anyway, I know there is a forum for rebuilding credit, but it seems to focus on after the BK is finished. I still have a ways to go.
Any good tips on using credit cards to build up your credit during BK?

We are turning in a Leased Car in 2 months, the lease is done, I went talking to car dealers a couple months ago, and they told me no way would they lease me a car. GMAC might (Current Lease) but their cars are really overpriced, I'm thinking about the cheap Hyundai Deal.

Do you think they might lease one to my wife?

So why does this happen, I would think they would consider us the same person as far as credit is concerned.

    Thanks
    Monty

Do you realize you are not supposed to take on New Debt while in Ch 13??

The only types of new debt allowed in Ch 13 are for a mortgage or a car loan. At that, you must receive permission from your Trustee first.

While it may not be likely that the Trustee will catch you, the possibility does exist. The Court does have access the Credit Bureaus. The Clerk of the Court could pull up your Credit Reports and see the new CC's at any time.

Using unauthorized Credit puts your Ch 13 Payment Plan in jeopardy. If you get caught, or the CC bills cause you problems making your payments, your Plan could be Dismissed with Prejudice. Meaning you cannot refile and will be responsible for all the debt you had when you originally filed.
