I wanted to ask how much the 1040 tax return form plays a role in the bankruptcy process. Who all reviews this information...the judge..attorney??? I had someone else prepare my taxes and am a little concerned about some figures that were listed. Because of this it may not be worth the stress of going through. I have a consultation appt. with an attorney next week...thinking about cancelling because of this.

Your tax filing is technically avaialable to the judge, attorney, BK trustee, US Trustee, and creditors.
One a side note, if you are going to let what gets put on a tax form determine whether you file BK, then (1) either you don't need to file BK, or (2) you are in such denial that you are looking for any excuse not to file. Odds are, if you are taking time to visit forums like this, it is number (2).
Also, if the numbers are not correct, fix them.

If your taxes aren't right, you can amend your taxes. Here's a link to info on correcting previous year's returns:

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.
