    Quick question...(marriage related)

I'm about to file Bankruptcy, but was planning on getting married within the next couple of months.

I know this is a general question, but will it effect anything?

Only debt will be to Nissan (vehicle was only in my name, Repo'd)..... and a few hundred in CC bills.

    Hoping for a Chapter 7.

    Thanks.

none of the repo paperwork has come around to me, i guess they're still selling the truck at an auction or whatever they do. I owed around 40k on it. CC bills are $400 bucks.

      thanks for the reply

ninja edit: One credit card with $400 dollars on it. thats it.

random question as well, do you know the average cost of a bankruptcy lawyer.

i consulted with one that is asking for $1800 +$265 court fees.

I'm 23 and the truck and CC are the only thing, very simple I would think.

Honestly,.............. If you have a half way decent job,.......... I'd work out a payment plan if it were me. And pay the CC's what you owe them.

You can work a deal with Nissan to pay off any deficient balance due in exchange for them not reporting the repo on your Credit. Others have done that.

And a few hundred in CC debt isn't worth filing over either.

You've got to look big picture here. BK is a public record that can remain on your Credit for YEARS.

A few lates you can explain as due to change in job or whatever. Providing you can get Nissan to agree not to list the Repo, you'd be in much better shape paying your debts than dealing with BK on your Credit.

In a year or 2, you could be debt free and still have decent credit by paying.

If I'm not mistaken...you're filing for a total amount of about $10K- 15K of which all but $400 is an auto loan? Filing fees are going to be about your credit card debt.

I agree with SinkingFast....I would do my best to work something out with Nissan. Especially since you are getting married, I would do my best to keep my future credit options clean and available if possible.
