Lein on a home?

I was wondering how filing works works if there is a lein on the house? I will probably be turning the house over the the lender.

It works just fine. The filing is completely independent of the lien. I had one. How it affects the value of the house may depend on what type of lien it is - but if you're going to surrender the home it doesn't matter much anyway.

So I don't need to deal with the lein first, before I can file?

The good thing about filing a bk - even with 'horrible' situations going on at your home - you can just walk away and let the lender deal with it. What type of lien do you have, anyway?
