    Recently Filed

    My wife and I recently filed bk. Our attorney is currently reviewing our application before e-filing it. I am a little nervous because the total time from retention of attorney to filing has been almost 18 months. We had many things going on in our lives and the hope of a promotion that never came to be so we delayed turning in the paper work to our attorney. The attorney said no problem. Any experience with this?

    I don't think this is at all uncommon. I first contacted an atty in 2005 about possibly filing, but didn't file until this last April. It shouldn't be a problem, IMHO. Welcome to the boards.

      We hired our attny in March and didn't file until September. The longer you can wait, the better.

      And as long as you aren't in danger of Foreclosure, or being evicted from your home, or need to stop a Law Suit, then waiting longer can work to your advantage. If more bad things happen, you can include them too.

      Plus, the longer in time you put between filing and your last charges, the better too.
