    Collectors

I've received collection letters from my 3 creditors--I'm nervous, but I think I will call them and let them know I've retained an attorney in early June when they all hit 60 days past due--is it better to fess up, or just ignore them and not call til my filing is official (not til October)? Also, these SOB's I believe are calling my cell phone (I have no land line phone), and not leaving a message--I don't recognize the ph #'s as the area codes are 817 and 925. Do you think it is the collectors? Why don't they just leave a message?

They don't leave a message because they know you won't call them back. Who would??!!

"Hey Mr/Ms Collector! I'm returning your call!"

Don't talk to them. Just don't waste your breathe. Telling them now you're gonna file may not stop them from calling again. May even make them worse with the calls. Or more aggressive with the Collections activities.

If something big is gonna happen, you should know. You'll get a letter in the mail telling you you're being sued. You'll have 20-30 days notice of a hearing. If you're not ready to file, you can post a written response, appear at the hearing, and slow down the Judgement process somewhat.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.
