Roommate question

I have an unrelated adult roommate who receives all her material support from me.

Can I include her in my household size as a dependent in determining which Median income figures to use in the BK means test?

First, ask your attorney to make sure Trustee will be asking for any "proof" of dependent/relationship or not!?.. i.e., relatives, fiancee/boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.? If not, maybe a current "lease", or IRS-1040, if any, that shows both your name & hers onto it as a proper dependent .

I would think that you may, as long as this person does not file a tax return claiming themself. If you are able to claim them as a dependent for tax purposes, you should also be able to include that dependent in your household.
