Can someone help explain some terms on my credit report?

I'm trying to figure out who is responsible for what debt. I just pulled my report from Experian. All of my credit cards have been charged off recently. Does that mean they have been sold to collection agencies?

First off, all of my credit card accounts show the responsibility as "individual"

I thought we were both responsible for our American Express account because I had to use his income to even get it and put him on the card. I remember us both getting cards with different account numbers (only the first few numbers though)

I pulled my husband's credit report and the American Express was on there but his said "Closed/never late" and "Not responsible" I don't think he charged anything on his individual card but the high balance and balance history shows MY recent balance. Would that maybe be only because he is an authorized user instead of a co-signer?

Since my credit report is saying responsibility is "individual" does that mean that I'm the only person that can be sued? Can I trust the info on Experian as accurate or should I pull the other 2 credit reporting agencies to see what they say?

Dh has also never gotten one collection call at work and they always ask for me here at home, no mentions of him at all.

One last question, I'm sorry. If I were to be sued before BK and they got a judgment against me, is there anyway to get it off when we do file BK?

Most Likely when they say charged off they have been sold to collections. And you opened the A exp card so you are the responsible party spouse was only a AU. Yes only the responsible party can be sued. I would pull all credit reports they all report items differently or contain errors. I am not sure of the judgement but I believe after the bk has been discharged there is a way to remove the judgement by going thru the courts

Keep in mind, what is listed on your credit report HAS NO legal bearing on who is responsible for what. A credit report is simply "information" that creditors make available to "other creditors". Ultimately, the Credit Card User Agreement and State Law will determine who is the responsible party.

Thanks to you both for responding. I went ahead and pulled the other two reports. They are all saying me as the "individual" account owner and dh as "authorized user" or "none" under the responsibility section.

HMM, thanks for the heads up on the legalities of the user agreement/state law vs the credit report.
