Do they combine the incomes of all wage earners that share the same address, and if your's is below you're a-ok with a 7? Sorry, trying to get a better understanding of this concept!
total family income, with 4 people which includes you the filer
and yes you'd have a good chance for a 7

Yeah, I'm the only wage earner. From what I am learning that doesnt automatically make you slam dunk 7. My major concern is that spending inheritance money on a pool rather than paying creditors could be a red flag. I'm not sure what form this would show up on, or if it might be a question at the 341. I dont want to be forced to 13.

So again probably safer to wait a year from the date you spent the inheritance.

Thanks NC. The 2nd attorney I speak of wants me to come into his office with my info, along with the pool transaction papers to try and feel the situation out. This is the free consult so I guess i should go to see what he has to say?? Might also give me a feel for whether he is looking for my best interests. From some of the posts here I see that it can take some time to get the funds together for the atty. Does paying a retainer at this time create any problems and arranging payments cause any problems filing wise later on?

I think it should be fine, most will take payments. You could pay the retainer now but I don't think you could get the money back if you change your mind and want to go with another lawyer.

Attorney doesnt see the inheritance spending as a problem other than wait 6 months no need to wait a whole year. Told me to stop paying ccs now and then look to file in 6 months. He seems confident that while i am not a slam dunk, more like an easy layup. I am looking forward to getting out from under and getting on the right track.
