    Discharging Tax Debt

I just read on the Internet that tax debt from state and federal can be discharged in a chapter 7 if it is older than two years.

Does anyone know anything about this?

There are some other specific details of how these taxes qualify for deletion through bk. Best advice is to consult with a tax pro familiar with bk, or find a bk attorney who has successfully handled [U]several[U] of these cases. These pros are rare and can be hard to find. Ask lots of questions and make sure you are comfortable that they know what they're doing.

For example, you're going to have to make sure that a filing has been made for all years, that the latest attempt to collect is past certain age, and that your non-payment wasn't due to fraudulent reasons. Just because the tax is >3 years doesn't automatically qualify it. Good Luck.
