We stopped using/charging on credit cards in about Feb-March of 2006. We stopped paying on them in March - June 2006 (depending on the card and what I could scrape out). In Oct 2006, I tried to do a DMP with ACCC. Ihad to total all the debt and it was around $30K. In the next 5 months we paid about $10K to creditors (the ones who were already in collections and wouldn't go on the DMP, a few months of DMP payments, etc). Have not charged anything or paid anything since then. Just pulled my credit report and tallied up again and now, a year later, despite paying out $10K (we didn't really have ) and NOT CHARGING ANYTHING for the last year, the debt is now $40K. It's crazy, isn't it? We would seriously never get out of it.

That's exactly how I feel. The sooner I get through this the better so I don't have to drown in my debt for the rest of my life!
