I would like to say thanks to everyone here for the valuable information I have read about! I was just wondering since the new bk law changes on October 17, when Is the last day I can go file with my lawyer. Is the 341 meeting with the trustee the actual "filing" or is going and filling out the paper work with my lawyer the actual "filing" ?? I was wondering if I could file the first week in october and still be covered under current bk law? What does everyone think?

A bankruptcy is started with the "filing" of the petition with the Bankruptcy Court.

So you could conceivable file at 11:59pm on October 16, 2005 and you would still be covered by the current BK law.
