    How are you served.

    Do you have to be served IN PERSON before a creditor can sue you?

    It depends on your state's law. Although its preferable that they serve you in person, they can generally serve you at your last known address and leave it with someone of competent mind and that will satisfy the courts.

    However, if you think service is/was improper you should speak to a local attorney.

    However, lack of proper service is a mere technicality that can be easily solved when you appear to dispute service.
