The trustee will look at your bank account balance on the day that you file with the court.
So that is when you have to have the least amount possible in your bank account on that day.
As to the CU breathing down your neck.
Have they served you with a summons yet?
If not, then you have some time.
Even once you are served, you have so much time before the court date, then the time it takes to process the paperwork after the court date.
As long as you file before they actually start taking your money you should be ok. Because the automatic stay will stop a garnishment order also.
Sure, filing before the actual judgement is awarded is the ideal. As then you don't have to go through the steps to have it vacated after the BK.
But you do still have some time to work with.7/01/10 - filed!
11/20/10 - discharged and closed

Honey, if you have trouble spending that money, believe me I could HELP you do that in one day, lol.............
Pay auto insurance for a year, have dental work done, buy clothese for you and the kids, catch up your utilities, stock up on groceries. Put some of the cash in money orders for future use. BUT DO KEEP RECEIPTS for what you do spend......
Keep as little as possible in your checking account (my attorney recommended less than $100.)
Some of that money can possibly be exempted.....so discuss this with your attorney before filing.
Keep us posted...Minny

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.
