Sometimes I think they are just going through their whole routine even when you tell them you filed. They forget you just said that because most likely they had 10-12 calls they already made and they ask the same question. When I informed my mortgage co (they were borderline in violation of the law after this), about my BK, the woman asked me why I couldn't pay and I said, I filed BK you can't ask me that, then she chuckled and said, you're right, sorry.
Also you only just filed on Jan 31, give it at least 10 business days, maybe a few more. It can take a little time for that to filter to people. Even my attorney told me that.
I'm taking some "job skill" classes right now and last night was the section on debt. The man running the presentation said to thank them for calling (collections, etc) because it will throw them off since that won't ever be a response they hear often and it won't be in their flowchart of things to yell at you. Funny huh?
