Well, it's official. I'll be surrendering my car on Saturday morning. I just spoke to the CU to make arrangements.
As much as I dreaded making the phone call, it wasn't that bad. The rep I spoke to was very nice, explained about the closed bid auction and that I'd be responsible for any balance. She asked why I was choosing to surrender and I told her that I'd gotten in over my head, I knew that I could no longer afford the car and there was no point in prolonging the agony any further. At the advice of my attorney, I didn't mention BK and she didn't ask.
So that's that. Not the proudest moment of my life, but it's one more step toward a fresh start.
