Closing CC account

Yesterday I closed the Chase acct that I plan to include in my BK because there are a couple of auto deducts that I cannot seem to get them to STOP doing (online game accounts for my kids). We called 2 months ago and cancelled the gaming accts, but they still keep showing charges each month on that card. We can't have game charges on the card we plan to include in our BK! So, I just closed the acct thinking now they won't be able to do it anymore. Was that a bad idea though??? Closing the card I plan to include? Is that okay to do?

You could also tell the CC that you did not authorize the charges and want them reversed.

Well I figure we are a few months away from filing because we are in the save mode right now, the charges amount to $12/mo. By the time we file I am hoping they won't be an issue. Thing is, the game accounts are still active, they are just supposed to be paid another way (with prepaid cards my boys bought themselves). So I don't know if I could dispute the charges. It's not like the game accts are closed!?

You've already instructed the game company to cease drafts, right? Therefore, any more withdrawals from them are not authorized. You have every right to dispute.

Want to know how I know? My kids had an XBox account that was drafted from my debit card as a gift when we got the system. After the first month, I suspended auto deductions and the kids bought there own game time cards and used them. The debits continued. I simply called the bank and disputed it. The money was back in my account within an hour. I never heard any more about it and never had another debit.

Okay, that's great to know thank you! Now, since I closed the acct yesterday will they still help me ya think? Guess I'll find out when I call!
