If you feel signing the reaffirm papers on your mortgage will "help" your credit report then do what you think you need too. I'm still inclined to agree with your lawyer - I don't think it will help any!! Your case is closed and your credit report already says "included in BK"....
By signing the reaffirm - the mortgage company MAY OR MAY NOT change the credit status on your credit report... its really up to them.. but IF YOU SIGN you will then be responsible for the debt till its paid in full....no matter what.

    Your choice,

PS - you didn't say whether you reaffirmed on the vehicle before the bankruptcy was closed or after???

I reaffirmed on my vehicle during my case - even before my 341 hearing. My bank sent me papers right away, and we took care of that easily, cleanly, and quickly.

Well, what "I feel" about my credit is irrelevant. I was hoping some folks with some experience would share some advice, which is what you're doing, and I'm very very greatful!!!!!! I'm still not sure, at this point, what all the "negatives" of reaffirming are, as I fully intend to make all payments, I hope to sell or refinance (to get my xH off the mortgage) in a few years, and can't imagine anything happening to change these plans. (i.e., I cant imagine ever needing or wanting to "walk away", if that's the only potential drawback)

I'm leaning toward doing it, with full understanding that nothing may change for the positive, and understanding that I am re-committing myself to being responsible for balance. But I may change my mind

Its not a necessity to reaffirm on you home, but YOU may feel better about it if you do... and if you ask the mortgage company to make a notation on you credit report they may be more than happy too....
        Good luck on your decision.....
