Getting a settlement should i wait to file

I will be getting a settlement sometime soon i hope, its coming but not sure when. from what ive read if im in BK 13 they will take it. should i just wait till i recieve it and use it up before i file .

Even if you wait, the Trustee can ask for the money unless was spent with food, house repairs..etc.

You can wait but make sure to spend the money on allowed expenses as cool says and keep receipts.

can someone give me a more detailed list expenses that would be good to use.

Dental work
etc.
