A question about my truck payment if i file

Hey this is my first post but i have followed this site for quit awhile. Thanks for all the help each of you give people. My question is I plan to file chapter 7 in the next month or two i meet with my lawyer tomorrow.I have a truck that my payments are up to date, but I dont want to keep the truck during this bankruptcy should I keep making the payments or just let them go because the payments are what got me in the hole and unable to pay my credit cards.any help would be appreciated.

If you dont want the vehicle any longer simply stop making the payments now. There is no point is throwing good money to bad if you are giving it back.

Since you plan on filing in the next month or two I would let them go..although I am not sure how long it would be before they repo it. And if they do repo it, not sure if that is worse on your credit than just a bk. Good Luck

How long would have to keep your insurance on a vehicle that you aren't making payments on???

You may voluntarily turn it over to them. They will still pick it up as they insist on this. However, they will mark your record as a voluntary repossession. It still goes on the record but it is better than a find it and tow it case. 'Hub
