    What do you guys think.....

I called an attorney today about possibly filing a chapter 7.

My situation is that I am in Washington state, I have about 20k equity in my house, 2 cars which I own free and clear. I have used my cards quite a bit the last month or two "which i totally regret now but had to". 2 kids.

I owe at least 80k in unsecured debt.

He told me to STOP paying all cc's now, continue paying on the house, not to worry about the cars even though one would sell for probably 16k and the other one maybe 10k, he said that wildcards would cover those. Wait 3 months minimum, 6 months better, or till I can't stand the calls anymore or till a summons appears on my front door then call him back and file.

    Sound like good advice?

Assuming the wild card amount is correct, yes that is good advice.

When & what was the last amounts you charged? Did he also tell you stop using all credit for now?

I would ask/phone a couple of more attorneys just to double check on those amounts to make sure you can keep the autos & exactly how many wildcards do you get in Washington?

But make sure that none of your credit card debts or loans are with the bank where you currently have your checking/savings account. If you do, switch banks.
