    Income question

In 2003, my then girlfriend received a large quantity of money from a trust and she paid off my credit cards to the tune of $14,000 (which I rapidly managed to exceed again ). Now that I am filing bankruptcy, do I need to list that $14,000 as non-employment related income for that year or do I even need to make note of that at all?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me!

You might want to list it because they might ask where the 14 grand came from that you paid to the cc's. Ask your laywer.

2003 was a little while ago, I think you can get away without listing it (afterall, I doubt you claimed the money on your income taxes).

When its that long ago, no one is going to care because there is nothing anyone can do about it at this point.

Thank you for your responses....I think that I will go the not listing it route and perhaps expect a question or two at my 341!

I'd be surprised if it came up. I don't think they discuss your card balances 18-24 months ago. If it had been more recent, such as putting large amounts of purchases on 3-6 months ago, maybe it would come up. 2003 is ancient history!

Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I agree, I don't think it will be brought up period......

What happened 2 or more years ago they are really not interested in.....

            Good Luck, don't worry,

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

A year is usually the most I would imagine they look back at anything. At least that's what my lawyer said. It also does depend on what was charged and how much.
