I think my magnifying glass is broken. LOL

Anyone get a credit card bill yet with the time frame on how many years it will take you to pay it off? I thought it was going into effect at the same time the new laws did, but I don't see it unless my magnifying glass isn't working. I imagine that the print will be smaller then a human hair. LOL

Maybe instead of a magnifying glass, you should reach for your savings account deposit slip. I know how long it will take me to pay off my credit card bill before I even get it: Zero days from the arrival of the bill.

Before anyone cries "victim" yet again, believe it or not, you an calculate this kind of info right here on the internet.

Find out how long it will take to pay off your credit card balance with Bankrate's calculator.

I already know how to calculate it Lightning. Just making a point that your "bed partners" don't want us to know for some reason. It took a law for them to post it.

Lightning, just wondering you can post on the forum as long as you like. I support free speech. Question I have though is that almost all of us come here because we need answers to problems. Some problems we created and others were created beyond our control. We come here to get help and give help with our experiences and the time we spend is worth it. It seems like not only are you "perfect" financially, but you just have too much time on your hands. You don't come here for advice and after reading some of what you say you don't give a whole lot of good advice either. Don't you have better things to do with your time? Really!

My understanding that the changes in the statement disclosures & minimum payments are to be in effect by the end of the year. Believe it or not, they are not related to the BK reform.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

To be more specific your advice to someone rebuilding their financial lives with the worst behind them is actually pretty good . You usually mention that borrowing from retirement funds are no good or use cash only or don't buy a car from con artists. Your advice to someone facing difficult times is pretty nasty.

How about they pass a law that says CC companies must call you every day to inform you of your balance and minimum payment due along with how long it will take you to pay it off? Why stop at a "statement"? What if your mail carrier drops dead or you move in with your 3rd cousin on your mother's side and forget to tell the post office?

Those darn CC's should send a personal representative to your home to talk to you about financial responsibility. After all, the fact that you have a balance certainly isn't your responsibility.

Well Staci, I read one commentator who complained about the "Coincendence" with the BK reform and the rising minimum payments on the CC's. Main point was, that "If we tell them they'll be screwed in a year, why we'll lose more money!"

After all, the rules were passed quite awhile ago, but I only heard about them about 4 months ago...Strange, I think and agree with that commentator.

Lightning, That is an excellent idea! I'm going to contact my representatives first thing tomorrow morning and suggest your idea. My God, your right, if the credit card companies spent a lttle more PERSONAL time with their customers, there would probably be alot more fiscal responsibilty on the part of consumers!

I don't know about the moving in with a 3rd cousin on my mothers side part,( we don't do that in our family), but if it works for you, by all means have at it.

Sorry to hear about your mail carrier, was he sick long?

That's a funny thing I have long seen with these CC companies. They will allow a "machine" decide who is and who is not "Credit Worthy" but if you get a bit behind, it's "Ring! Ring! Hi Mr latepayer, can we have $50 please?"

I even called one myself, and chatted with a rep, after seeing how bad my credit was, she declined it. But the interesting thing was, she did get her supervisor online also and we had a 3 way pleasant enough conversation about wheather or not I was a really good risk, but a bad looking one.

I admitted everything and told them how I saw I could get out of debt in a good enough time limit and even they could take all my other cards and restrict any usage until below a certian level.

Supervisor was really for it, but said "We can't program the computers that way" So, I thanked them kindly and hung up. Funny how they can program a computer to grant or deny, call you and find the best time to call and catch you, and even when to raise the interest rate on your card.

But they somehow can't do this? Yes, I find it VERY funny. And they laugh all the way to the bank....
