I made a stupid mistake two years ago and joined a credit union by saying I was a relative of a member in order to be eligible when actually we are just freinds. They really never verified this and accepted me as a member. Could this come back to haunt me if a file bankrupcy I have a second mort of 55K and credit card for 20K with them. Will the Trustee or credit union look deep into this or im a just paranoid?? I have been current on both accounts thus far..

To 'today's' Credit Union, you are called a customer. Not many CUs need to know your affiliation. I joined a Credit Union many years ago, (before you were born) and it was a company CU. It since is not called a "Universal" CU and takes anyone. The Trustee could care less about that and there is no law that excludes you. 'HubIf I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I don't this an as issue. Even if it ever came up (which I don't believe it will) you can simply say that you misunderstood the membership criteria. The bottom line is that you had to be honestly credit worthy for the loans in order to get them. And you were.Originally posted by worried1 View PostHi,
No, everything on the loan applications are the truth. My only blimish is how how I joined the credit union.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under
