I thought I found this somewhere but I can not remember where. My question is exactly what is stated in the title. We are going to be done paying off our lawyer at the end of January, and NEED some home items. We had to sell a lot of our furniture in order to move back to Illinois from California. We are living with my in laws right now until we can get on our feet and are hoping to be out before we file in February. At that time we will need to buy mattresses because right now my two older boys sleep on a ripped twin mattress on the floor, and hubs and I have no bedroom furniture at all, and we don't even have a couch. We aren't looking to buy anything through the roof expensive. I may even check out craigslist for stuff.

are you asking about purchases with cash or a credit card?
If it's cash- you just need to remember that you'll have to exempt the stuff.
I would not recommend buying these things on your CC if you're filing in Feb. however.

As long as you are paying with cash, you will be okay. Use wisdom though, and plan your purchases. You can use your cash to purchase exempt items like food and necessities for your household.

just make sure you have enough exemptions to cover the purchases! You'll have to list your belonging's in your schedules w/how much they are worth. It will depend on your district if they want "yard sale" or replacement value.Filed Pro Se: 10/16/2009
