What changed in the bk laws in 2005

I know there is a whole lot that has changed, but can someone give me insight to a couple of specific questions that I cannot find the exact answer on.

prior to 2005 bk law changes

    Was there a house exemption?

did you need to either ride-through or reaffirm for a home/car?

was there a median income to file chapter 7?

In short terms if possible, what has really changed, besides the frequency of filing?

I am asking because my husband is stating that all these things did not exist pre-2005 law changes, I said they always were in existence and other things have changed!!!

    Thanks in advance....

There was no means test, no CCCS or debt managment course requirement.
Supposedly ridethroughs were elimenated but, that's not the case.

There have always been equity exemptions for houses. Both the federal exemption or individual state exemptions existed prior to bk reform.
