Picked up the NOLO "The New Bankruptcy" book from the library. But I can't figure out what nolo stands for. What does it mean?

It doesn't have a stand alone meaning. Think of it like a prefix (e.g. non, pre, etc.). -

Well, maybe as an acronym it means that (but that is a modern usage), but in latin, it has no specific meaning, it seems to act as a prefix i.e. nolo contendere
I wouldn't characterize all the books by Nolo as straightforward and easy to read, they do an adequate job but there are some mistakes and they leave a lot out.Comment

In Latin you put a form of "nolo" before some other verb to put it into the negative.
(I've no idea if that has anything to do with the publisher.)Comment
