Going through this sometimes feels like a meteor is about to hit the earth, it helps calm me to talk about it all and run different scenerios....

Well, if it "calms" you, okay. But in general, the "what if" game is simply an exercise in excuse making that prevents constructive ACTION to resolve the underlying problem.
