When asked the question "Are you currently in bankruptcy?" What exactly does that mean? When are you in bankruptcy? When does it end? at discharge? I know this may sound like a dumb question but could someone please clarify.

It ends typically at discharge. that is what creditors are asking. When asked "are you in BK" the response should be "our discharge has already been granted" or "we are not yet discharged". They can determine if "case closed" is an issue.

There's no such thing as a "Dumb Question" as if there was, we'd still be thinking little demons caused our stomach upsets, the world was flat and the moon was made of cheese (Never did figure out how THAT rumor started) and we would have the useful tools we have today by people, had others not said "Why is this?" or "What is that?"

the reason you are asked this question is becuase whoever is asking it wants to know when you are discharged or dismissed. no idea why and it depends on who is asking i guess.
strange how i apply for a new credit card and my bk is still in process and they even send me statements, but isnt that against the stay order of the court?
Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

The company that I had my mortgage with (Chase) sent statements each month, on it was a disclaimer, that it was a statement and that was all if you were in the bankruptcy process. (ya' think that they maybe got "burned"?) I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now.... Comment
