be very careful with pacer. the folks that run that system are incredibly stupid and may mess with charges or the system is wacky to say the least.

    be warned.

most of them are retards and think they know their system like they are god. and they do not know it at all most times.

they do not. most are very ignorant. in fact im still getting different answers on when charges post and if you get charged for the title screen.

each time i ask they say something different lol.

best bet is to keep checking charges and make sure you know how much you owe.

I didn't use the report function-it brings back alot of material, and I don't understand how the list can be so many pages but I found that out last month. Instead, I looked up case by case. I figured that if my case # was 05-555555 then people who filed before me would have a lower case # and people who filed after me would have a higher case #. When you search by case #, you get to see the summary page for free and that shows 'last file' date or something like that. So, if I put in 05-554555, I'd see the summary of the case filed 1000 #'s earlier than mine. It would show me the date they filed, and when the most recent update/change had happened. If it said date filed 9/1, last entry 10/15, I figured they hadn't hadn't been discharged. I'd only look at more info (and then be charged $.08) if the last entry was more than 3 months after their file date.
      Aahhhhh. That makes sense.

We haven't filed yet. Attny's here are advising moving forward on new case filings the end of March/early April due to income tax time. People get their return and use it to pay the attny so the Trustee has nothing to ask for.

I was searching by Attny name to guage their level of experience. How many cases over how long a period of time kind of thing. I'd enter the attny's name and then look at the filings list. I'd done that several times when I hit one attny with some huge number of filings over his 15-20 years in practice. I scrolled down the page to see if he'd filed a bunch before 10/17 and if he'd filed anything new since. That's when I first noticed the little PACER billing box. That one webpage was equal to 49 billable pages at PACER. That's when I started noting how many billable pages I'd incur every time I did a search.

After that, I've only looked at the documents of a couple of cases and printed one. I wanted reference info for the different forms, what people were claiming for expenses, etc. Glad I did. I was gonna cut off the cell phones and cut back the cable to save on expenses. I didn't know those would be acceptable to the Court, but they are. People here list cell phone, cable, and a whole bunch of other stuff I hadn't even thought would be considered allowable. Since then, I've stayed off PACER.

Just checked my email and I haven't recv'd a statement. Maybe later today.

Boy, I thought I was nosey. (looked up my stepdaughter and her husband, a couple of people that I knew had filed as well as go to the criminal section)
Personally, especially if looking at the documents in Pacer made me feel alot better about our case, it was worth it and is cheaper that nerve medication and the doctor's visit.
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Are you checking the Billing History?? where you can plug in the dates to search?? It is NOT reliable!!

That is NOT a correct total!!!! I just found out!!

            OK ....let me explain

I was monitoring my charges by going under Billing history. I would put in date of 09/01/05-01/13/06 (that days date) I would see the following:
            date
            time
            pages
            client code
            description
            search criteria

It stated I viewed 142 pages and my total was $11.36...ok not too bad.
So I remembered someone saying if you go over $10 they charge you, under $10 they let it go. So I wanted the details about that rule. I went under accounts/billing/statements..I pulled up my Quarterly statement and it has my total was $34.88. for 436 pages... I just check my Billing history and it said $11.36!!!
So I went back and printed out all 16 pages from the Billing history..and AGAIN...from 9/1/05-1/13/06, $11.36 for 142 pages.

I looked again at the Quarterly statement and it still says $34.88, 436 pages!!!! I am so confused!!! Also my Quarterly statement only goes from 10/01/05-12/31/05....so that total doesn't even include all my stuff from January 2006!!!!!!

I'm so confused..why are they telling me two diffrent totals?? glad I printed it out, I will be disputing these!

anyone else have different totals??..from Billing history and Quarterly statement? I mean it doesn't make sence. my Billing history should be the larger total...that goes from 9/01/05-1/13/06, and my Quarterly statements only goes from 10/01/05-12/31/05

            UUGGHH!!

first off, let me repeat. pacer service reps are nothing short of dip level. they think they know pacer and they dont and cant explain. it so funny to hear these people. like today was a guy, progbably had kids that look up to him, and he contracadicted himself within 3 seconds. asked him if he wanted me to replay what he told me. he told me to write a letter to get my questions answered lol.

make sure you are using ALL courts when searching. i got screwed and was over the $10 mark after even working that plan. thats ok, im gonna screw them ever better by making sure tons of people learn how to not go over it and never pay a dime hehe

as far as the totals, mine are a bit screwy too. i decided im not gonna bother. if thtey got help like the one lady screaming at me "i know my system better then you do!!!!!" roflmao), or other unstable and chaotic unmedicated people then i aint gonna get any answers out of them.

you know how it is. its a job and they barely deserve the low pay they get.

Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

                Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted and I've missed you all very much. But after reading this post I wanted to share what worked for me. I sent an email to PACER asking for forgiveness as I did not understand exactly how the search function worked. They eliminated/removed the charges from my billing on two separate occasions:

Try it! It may work for you too!!! Good Luck!

You might not want to enter in your SS on the search page. Apparently it's a SSL connection for part of the session, but the search page (after logging in and everything) is unsecured.

no its ok. its still secured. you can verify this with the lock at the lower right hand side of the browser or the https showing in the address link. the 'S' stands for secured.

if there is something else that you are speaking about please reply.

Pink_amulet, I'm with you. I just sent Pacer my 'dumbified' email pleading my case to the tune of $128. If it works cool!!! If not, I'll be crying as I make that payment, thinking damn, I could've bought an outfit and matching shoes. Oh well!!! I'll keep ya posted as well!!!
