If I was to win the FL lotto tonight...

...should I have my name on the ticket with someone else's name (boyfriend, parent, one of my children...) so that they can't take all the money that, with my, I would win the lotto now...or, being that it's over $43 million at this point, maybe I could just take that money to pay off my cc debt?

    Anyone know how this works???

It would be just my luck to win this year...

    hmmmm....

if you have to ask then you probably know the answer. hehe

anything you win can be taken from you up until close to be safe.

it should be anything you owned, i.e. bought the lotto ticket, before the petition date, is property of the trustee.

if you own half then he gets half.

yes if you win 34 million it wouldnt matter much what he took. you could hire 500 attorneys to screw him to the floor lol
Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

Sorry to break it to you Amislander, but you aren't going to win the FL lottery tonight. I know it's disappointing, but how could you possibly win when I have the winning ticket in my hand right now. Well, maybe you could get 5 of 6 numbers and win a few grand still.

If you buy a ticket after filing, it is post bk assets. If you buy it before filing, regardless of when you realize you're a winner or when you claim the prize, it is part of your bk estate.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

...they just have been letting the cash build up so I could help out all my bk friends.....because the last time I didn't play, five of my #'s came in...

Now, imagine if we both picked the same six numbers.....lol!~

Sorry guys, y'all got it all wrong! I'll have the ticket on hand tomorrow. But there are afew folks in here, I win, you win. then find me a HIGH 5 acre spread in PBC, a small Condo on Fort Lauderdale Beach, build the house in TN, the cabin in Colorado, buy two GMC 3500 Duramax's and I'm done!
