getting title to my vehicle..

Ok. So I was thinking about when I'm selling my vehicle that I'm like 8 hours from where I registered my vehicle at.. (I go to school in florida, registered in alabama).. The vehicle is paid for.. but I remember coming home thinking to myself where is my title.. so the lady kept it on accident I'm assuming. (I know i iddnt lose it cuz i had all the paperwork in one folder).

So how do I go about getting a copy of it? Do i HAVE to go to the dmv? Or can I do it over the phone. I really don't want to drive 8 hours for THEIR mistake. I was looking thru the papers and I saw a paper that said 'application for a title' .. yet I had to show them the title before i registered obviously (i brought it with me from florida to alabama when i was registering) .. so do they always do an applicatoin for a title even if you already have the title inhand? I'm just confused, I will call them tomorrow but I still just wanted to know if anyone had ever dealt with DMV's and know if you actually have to be there IN PERSON to get another copy because I really need it soon.

lol, too bad that isn't all the counties in alabama.. they would have some of the smallest counties in alabama on there for E-services..go figure right

Actually just found a form on there for 'replacement title' so I think I can mail it in and receive it. Although it will cost 15 bucks..which I shouldnt have to pay. Guess illcall them to make sure I can receive it this way! Thanks a lot buddy
