I got a packet for HAMP when doing inhouse w/ BofA. (I knew I did not qualify for HAMP.) When I called them, they assured me they were processing inhouse but had to send out the HAMP to everyone requesting a mod. Something about statistics I think, and being able to show how many qualified for HAMP vs. how many did not. I think the mortgage cos have gotten a lot of bad press for so few federal mods - they're perhaps trying to show that many people do not qualify.

I did not send back the paperwork, by the way, for HAMP. Just kept working on inhouse.

    Modification question

Okay - am I right on this? Chase told us they were sending paperwork for an IN-HOUSE modification, not the Making Home Affordable modification. Well, just got the package -- they didn't, it's all the Making Home Affordable paperwork. We SPECIFICALLY asked if it was in-house and they assured us it was, so problem #1 and we haven't even got started. We are definitely filing for bankruptcy in December. I've read that once we file that if we're still in the approval process for the HAMP mortgage that it disqualifies us and we have to start over. Is that right??? In other words, I'm thinking there's no point in me making these trial payments if we're just going to get disqualified for the modification anyway - just throwing away that money - correct? And certainly, there's no way they're going to have this approved by December if we go through the HAMP program - right?
