    CCCS Counseling

I just took the pre bk credit card counseling (prior to retaining a laywer). Never at any time did the couselor try and make me feel stupid, dumb, or any less human (...even though she knew the problems were associated with gambling.) She gave me some good advice on setting up a budget, looking at my variable cost and seeing what I could do to reduce them.

I know I put the cart before the horse here (seeking the credit counseling prior to seeing an attorney), but her suggestion was to seek bk attorney help within 2 days.

Question, since this was the advice of a counselor, should I be concerned that I am only 100 days since last credit card cash advance?

Are they wanting to send your attny the Cert??

Odd to say within 2 days. The Cert is good for 180 days.

I don't think you put the cart before the horse. You wanted a professional opinion of your financial situation. You just happened to go the pre BK Cert route. We did the same thing without doing pre BK Cert. We didn't wanna fix any particular date, at that time, as to when we'd decided to possibly file. Our evaluation packet was pretty obvious as to what we needed to do. It pretty much said contact an attny.

Some attnys are making a bit of side money off the pre BK counseling. You have to do it in their office and they charge a tad more than if you did it on your own with the same service. But if you come in with your own Cert, the attnys will accept it.

I think you did alright. Just don't understand the rush by the counselor.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.

In the form, it said "Immediate Action, (Within 2 days), and she wrote, seek bankruptcy attorney. In the spirit of things, I don't think that was literal, it was a part of the form, but it was a recommendation by a certified bk counselor.

They said they would mail me the certificate (probably as soon as they get the $35 bucks).

You did the right thing. This is what they all wanted. See the counselor then see the bankruptcy attorney as a last resort. Millions more will be doing this soon enough.
