It's driving us crazy!!Originally posted by debtisbadSinking fast,
I swear I am about ready to head back to georgia! I have never seen so much rain in my life and it is dam* cold as well. Whats up with this place??
Here it's way on up into May and we're still wearing light jackets and sweaters part of the day. Sometimes all day!
I ran the furnace the other day just to take the chill off. It was 63 in the house, and it had rained for days. It was a bone chilling kind of cold.
It rained a lot after we arrived here last summer and thru the fall. And now this. It's like the whole month of May has been nothing but Rain, Rain, Rain! And Cold!Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

Living in KC, it was nothing to have stings of triple digit days in the summer. Days in the HUNDREDS are the ones I hate. You walk out of an A/C house or store and the heat literally takes your breathe away. I've had to stop walking for a split second just to get my breathing going normal again.
And, of course, there's always the humidity to deal with as well. It's not like dry heat like the desert SouthWest.
Last summer, the day we left KC to bring Son and his car here, daughters had a swim meet that morning. I'd decided we'd leave after the swim meet so we'd be driving at least part of the trip in the evening and after dark. It was 85 degrees at 8 am. By the time we got on the road, around noon, it was 107. That afternoon, the temp went up to 115-118. We get here around 10-11pm, it was in the upper 60's, which we hadn't felt in eons. Next day, day time high was only 92. WoooHooo!! We were in HEAVEN!!
Last summer, in KC, was very close to "Dust Bowl" days as far as temps went. That's the records for summer there. Way back in the 1930's.
Right now, for here, we're on track to have the coldest May on record since the 1940's.
Gotta luv weather stats!!Filed Ch 7 - 09/06

Ever read any SciFi?
Fun to pick up a paperback set in another universe and escape from ours. Almost every book has WEATHER CONTROL as part of the set up for the planet...only rains in controlled amounts over fields when needed (and ONLY at night, of course), and days are "boringly" set in upper '70's, Humidity at 20%, breeze of around 5 mph and a few puffy clouds to bring interesting shadows to the landscape...sigh....here in upper midwest, we get maybe 2 days in May and 2 in September that fit that pattern. And of course NO ONE is worried abut money, jobs are always tailored for your talents and $$$ issues are a thing of ancient (our) history. Don't remember ever reading one with a bankrupt character, exactly; always an option to "jump" to another planet and have opportunities there if things are not working out on Earth. Anyone up for a new start on one of Jupiter's moon colonies with my clan???

There's a place like this--it's called Colorado. Three hundred days of sunshine a year!Originally posted by Bobby'sGirlDays are "boringly" set in upper '70's, Humidity at 20%, breeze of around 5 mph and a few puffy clouds to bring interesting shadows to the landscape...sigh....
Although, we're having a little heat spell for a few days--low to mid 80's. Winds 8 mph. Humidity 19%.

Bobby'sGirl,
You and Robivi3 should chat........ he's really "heavy" into the old sciFi movies...... got all of them down pat and to the tee.............
Lol, he may even know the scripts to them.............
So I'm sure he would read books too........
When I'm having a really bad day...... or really long day and need to unwind so to speak............
I make a toddie for the body, head for my yard chair in the back yard, pick me a cloud out of the sky to watch for a while, and listen to 2 waterfalls next to my deck.................. TALK ABOUT CHILLIN OUT............ then as nightfall comes, I build me a big fire in the firepit and watch the flames.......
Doesn't take long to CHILL OUT.....................
Best stress reliever is combing/brushing out the "girls"........... they love it and it relieves stress also...........
All of these are stress relievers (I take no meds) and the toddie for the body is for my "disposition"................. LOL

Here's what I do....
...being in FL, I go to the beach & walk a couple times a week...and at least an hour on Sat/Sun...the waves tend to drown everything out & are very relaxing......a few drinks are good, many cause downright anger in me from my past issues so that's not good.....I find going to the movies is also very good...gets my mind off my problems...went & saw The Notorious Betty Page yesterday with my mom (Sundays I do with her every week)...that was quite a movie...came out at the Sarasota Film Fest & was totally sold out...loved it!
What else...more movies!!!!Filed Oct 2005discharged February 2007,Shapeless in the fire's glow, tell me if you think you know,

I went to the doctor last Wednesday and he's going to do another shot of cortisone in my spine, but at a different level this time. Then he started talking that if this doesn't work, we'll need to look at surgery! I told him I just can't deal with that and don't even talk about it. I already have my neck fused and don't need my low back to be fused also.
So I'm having the outpatient procedure on Friday (at least I have a long weekend to recoup.)*** THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE--ONLY A LAWYER CAN PROVIDE THAT. ***

Sounds like you have a lot of the same medical problems that my younger brother has had.....
Sure hope your find some relief for your pain.......
If you live in a cold, damp, rainy part of the country - it sure doens't help any.....
I've heard that tanning beds do "wonders" for back problems...... works like a heat lamp.....
Stress will really make the back hurt also since that is your weak spot.....
Take care of yourself.... get lots of rest......
