My sister was dennied employment at a bank and that is the only reason why. My mom works at the bank and thought they would look past my sisters bk. She applied to be a mail cleark and they still wouldn't hire her because of bk. Bank policy.
State Farm insurance is the same way. I'm from the land of the Farm, where is was founded. It's corporate building is actuall about 7-8 (5-6 story) buildings. You can work there through a temp agency but you can not be hired on full time.
Just depends. DH is an engineer and no one has ever checked his cr to get hired.Filed 09/05

My car is 10 years old, so I'm about $50 under the blue book value.Originally posted by bluflaxThank you, Anonymuse.
Excuse me everyone for being off subject for a moment:
Anonymuse, I'm in Colorado too and getting ready to file Chapter 7. If you know a good lawyer in Boulder, please let me know. Right now I'm doing some phone consultations in order to get a feel for them.
And I also understand that our state only has a $3K auto exemption. Were you able to keep your car? Mine, for better or worse, is paid off and has a blue book value of $14K. I'm hoping an attorney will help me figure out a way to keep it.
Thanks, again.
I'll PM you about a Boulder attorney.

Everything, it seems, these days...
...is tied to your credit report...
Read an interesting article in Consumer Reports in regards to auto insurance and credit scores...we all knew that accidents/claims raised rates but I didn't realize the credit end...I don't know...
I was paying $400/mo after my DUI back in 2002....it's been dropping steadily since then, been trying to drive normal and my tickets have all dropped off....I have Progressive at the moment...I didn't mention any bk...I pay $130/mo. which I consider pretty good...given my driving record...
I don't plan to switch jobs either with the bk on my record...my company is pretty understanding.
Bank of America didn't drop me...been with them since 1991...
I did get into my new apartment and I told them I was in bk ... sure that came up on my credit report...
I think there's just more divorced, bankrupted people around today than there was 10 years ago...Filed Oct 2005discharged February 2007,Shapeless in the fire's glow, tell me if you think you know,

Anon,
I am a marketing person and I can tell you just based on advertising I see that their are far more people in bk than we probably realize. Next time you watch tv check it out. I mean ditech funding who would not give me a mortgage 3 years ago is now advertising that they help those with "bad credit". Never saw those ads before. Also car dealers are advertising they will give you 100.00 dollars if they cannot find you financing. You can read our society by the advertising that you see. Also, I think our society (or some people in it) are wising up to the fact. Books like the "not so big house" are very popular. Remember how everyone HAD to have a McMansion, and now those McMansions are sitting on the market for months with no takers. Now is the time for all of us to downsize our life. That does not mean having less in my book. It means trading in the leased lexus for a car one can "own". These are interesting times, my friend!
