Hello. I was wanting to ask a question. I worked at a company called HH Gregg and I interviewed for a job at Checksmart. Well I was interviewed by the assistant manager and she told me I had the job and that I was going to start on January 3rd so I gave my 2 weeks notice to HH Gregg and then I later found out that I didnt have the job and it was too late for me to take back my 2 weeks notice. Well I owed checksmart some money and I wasnt able to pay them back and now they are threatening to sue me. I actually want to know a couple things. I was told that judges generally look down on check cashing places like that and I wondered if anyone knew if that was true or not? My other question is if that is dischargeable through bankruptcy cause they said at checksmarts corporate office that it isnt but when you borrow money from them and sign the contract that you're going to pay them back it states on that contract that your promising that you're not going to be filing bankruptcy before you pay them back. Any insight anyone could give me on this is greatly appreciated. Thank You :o [email protected]

That is a wierd tale, but to answer your question
Judges probably do look down on these payday loan places but that doesn't mean they will not hold-up and enforce a valid contract (you will probably lose if you go to court). However, the debt is discharable in Bankruptcy.
Incidently, why did you interveiw at a place you still owe money too.
