Chapter 7, behind on car payments

I filed Chapter 7 a few weeks ago and my 341 is scheduled for June 1st. I want to re-affirm my auto loan, but am behind almost two months on payments. My loan is through Wachovia Dealers (now Wells Fargo.) The guy in their bankruptcy department said I need to bring my payments current before I reaffirm the loan, but I cannot even think of doing that. After my 341, I can start making payments regular payments again, but cannot come up with roughly $1000.00 to bring the loan current, though I can certainly start making payments again.

Any advice on how I can keep my car would be appreciated. If I choose to surrender the vehicle, how long can I drive it before the bank takes the car back?

    Thanks!

Wachovia Dealer Services is very sticky about having the payments current before they will even consider a reaffirmation. Since I was so upside down in my car I just let it go in the BK...it took them 3 weeks after my BK discharge to come get the car.
